State Bank of India (SBI), India’s largest public sector bank, has released the official notification for Probationary Officer (PO) Recruitment 2026. A total of 1500 vacancies have been announced — 1446 Regular vacancies and 54 Backlog vacancies across all categories including General (UR), EWS, OBC, SC, and ST.
The SBI PO examination is one of the most popular and competitive banking recruitment examinations in India. Every year, lakhs of graduates aspire to crack the SBI PO exam and join India’s largest bank as a Probationary Officer. The online application process started on 18 June 2026 and the last date to apply is 08 July 2026. The Phase I Preliminary Exam is scheduled in August 2026 and the Phase II Mains Exam in September 2026, followed by a Group Exercise & Interview. Selected candidates are appointed as Probationary Officers (Junior Management Grade Scale I) and undergo a structured 2-year probation period before confirmation.

Educational Qualification:
- Passed or Appearing in Bachelor’s Degree in any stream from any recognized University in India
- Candidates appearing in the final year of their degree can also apply provisionally — they must produce proof of passing before joining
Age Limit (as on 01 April 2026):
- Minimum Age: 21 Years
- Maximum Age: 30 Years
- Age relaxation applicable as per SBI PO Recruitment 2026 Rules:
- SC / ST: 5 years relaxation
- OBC (NCL): 3 years relaxation
- PH / Divyang: 10 years relaxation (additional for SC/ST/OBC PH)
- Ex-Serviceman: 5 years relaxation
- Persons affected by 1984 riots: 5 years

- Mains Exam: 250 Marks
- Group Exercise & Interview: 50 Marks
- Grand Total: 300 Marks
- Final selection based on merit in combined Mains + GE + Interview performance
